Even though things are already off and running this year, it is certainly not too late to get more involved in IAP2 USA! I’d really like this to be the year that each member involves him or herself more directly and more deeply in our organization.
There are a number of absolutely fabulous committees and task forces that are actively supporting the organization, you and your fellow members, our friends and others with an interest in public participation:
- Core Values Awards
- Fundraising and Strategy (new this year!)
- Membership Services
- Strategic Alliance
We need your help!
For more information about any one or more of these, feel free to contact me, Amelia Shaw, our executive manager, or Jennifer Armstrong, our new (Yeah! Welcome, Jennifer!) administrative coordinator. We can also put you in touch with the applicable committee or task force chair person.
There’s also an excellent opportunity coming up to learn more about the organization and its operations by attending (“virtually”) IAP2 USA’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled for April 22. More information about the meeting will be available over the coming weeks.
For those of you who want to learn new P2 skills, sharpen your existing skills, or share your skills with others, there’s an event scheduled for May 27-31 that you won’t want to miss – IAP2 USA is hosting a Training/Skills Symposium; it’s being held at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis, Minnesota. More details on the course offerings will be available soon. (Plus, the weather in Minnesota is beautiful in late May!)
“What’s brewing in P2?”
Funny you should ask. Actually, I hope that I’m telling you something you already know – that this year’s IAP2 North American Conference will be held in Portland, Oregon, from September 9 – 11. The Super Early Bird conference rate is available now – hey, it’s a great deal! – and the conference hotel in Portland is already busy accepting reservations for conference attendees.
You can find loads of information on our website. Of course, there will be all sorts of updates on conference programming and related activities over the weeks and months ahead.
I’ll plan to see you there!
