Three guest speakers will share information and lead discussion about tools and techniques, leadership characteristics and use of social media for public participation. Together, we will examine how we can make public meetings more effective.

Conference Details

How can we make public meetings more effective? Join the IAP2 Intermountain Chapter on March 28 to discuss three perspectives on how we can make better use of this standard public participation tool.


  • Is the Open House Dead? – Jessica Pickul, JLA Associates, Portland, Oregon
  • Leadership Characteristics for Public Participation Programs – Timothy Tait, Arizona Department of Transportation, Phoenix, Arizona

  • Public Meeting 2.0 – Using Technology & Social Media for Engagement – Kristy Dalton, GovernmentSocialMedia.com, Reno, Nevada. 


Early bird rates are available the month of February: $95 for IAP2 members; $135 for non-members

March registration: $120 for IAP2 members; $160 for non-members

Organized carpools are being planned from Idaho Falls, Salt Lake and the Las Vegas areas. Please indicate your interest in carpooling during registration.


  • Opening Reception: Thursday, March 27 6-8 pm, Hampton Inn (dinner buffet included in registration)
  • Conference: Friday, March 28, 9 am – 4 pm, Hampton Inn (continental breakfast and lunch included in registration)
  • Optional Recreation: Saturday, March 29, various locations TBA (i.e., golf, Zion National Park, Snow Canyon)

 Conference Sponsorship Opportunity

Conference Sponsorships are available to interested organizations for $250. Select to sponsor the Opening Reception or one of the guest speakers. Benefits include one free conference registration (member or non-member); inclusion of logo on sponsorship board to be displayed at the Opening Reception and Conference; and half-page of space in the conference packet in addition to specific recognition during the sponsored portion of the program. Deadline for sponsors is March 15, 2014.
