IAP2 2013 Presenter Check-in: Larry Schooler
As we count down the days to #IAP2NA2013, we thought it would be nice to check in with our speakers and presenters to see what they’re looking forward to at the conference. Our President, Larry Schooler, goes first. Enjoy!
Who are you and what do you do?
Larry Schooler, Community Engagement Consultant for the City of Austin, Texas; I oversee all of our public participation initiatives with a team of about five folks.
What topic will you be presenting on at the conference, and what makes you feel passionate about it?
I’m presenting on programs around the country aimed at empowering ordinary folks to become facilitators of community dialogue and public engagement events. I feel passionately about it because I think people are longing for a new paradigm in public participation, and we will only achieve it if we can recruit a wide array of people to help bring it about.
Based on the conference program, what other sessions do you hope to attend (and why)?
I am going to all sessions. Every single one. They all look amazing! I’ll probably spend more time in sessions that deal with managing challenging publics.
Where can we follow you?
