Celebrate! IAP2 USA Turns 1

Congratulations!  One year ago on November 17, 2011, IAP2 USA was officially given affiliate status by the International board of directors.  Since then, we have had an outstanding first year.  Thank you to all of the members, chapters, board members and committee participants who have helped us reach this milestone.

In the past year, we have focused on the structure of the organization, collaborating with our chapters and increasing our membership benefits and services.  We have also sent representatives to participate in the Open Government dialogue at both the White House and with other NGOs at the UN. We’ve signed letters endorsing the guiding principles of public participation and sent a letter to the editor when a state was considering removing the right of the public to review environmental permits.

Our online presence is increasing with more blogs, increased Facebook postings and new conversations on LinkedIn. We are continuing to add resources to our website at iap2usa.org and will continue to improve the website as we move forward. If you haven’t already updated your profile in the membership directory, login to the website and share your information with the other members.

Since announcing our new $99 membership for 99 days campaign, we have had 21 new members sign up in about 3 weeks! Be sure to let your friends and colleagues know about this one time opportunity.

There is so much more planned for 2012 and we hope you will continue to participate as we become a more vibrant affiliate.  I’ll be posting more over the next few days so stay tuned.

Theresa Gunn

IAP2 USA President
